Chocolate Mousse
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup – hot water
- 8-ounce – semi-sweet chocolate (chopped bar or chips)
- 2 cups – heavy whipping cream
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tablespoons – confection sugar
- 1.2 teaspoon – pure vanilla extract
Directions
- Make the mousse ahead of time, so it’s chilled to serve or for layering cake.
- Mix together the hot water and cocoa powder.
- Boil a pot of water
- Place a glass bowl over the boiling water.
- Add the chopped bar or chips into the bowl that’s resting on top of the pot.
- Let the steam from the boiling water melt the chocolate as you slowly stir.
- After completely melting down, add the mixture of water and cocoa powder into the melted chocolate. Mix together well until it’s smooth.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the heavy whipping cream, vanilla extract, and sugar.
- Use a hand mixer to whip it up. Do not over mix, just whip for about 2 minutes.
- Once nice and thick, slowly fold in the chocolate mixture until completely mixed without deflating the whip.
- Cover the mousse and chill in the fridge until ready to serve/use.
