Chocolate Mousse

Serving Size:
10-12
Time:
3 hours
Difficulty:
Easy

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup – hot water
  • 8-ounce – semi-sweet chocolate (chopped bar or chips)
  • 2 cups – heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons – confection sugar
  • 1.2 teaspoon – pure vanilla extract

Directions

  1. Make the mousse ahead of time, so it’s chilled to serve or for layering cake.
  2. Mix together the hot water and cocoa powder.
  3. Boil a pot of water
  4. Place a glass bowl over the boiling water.
  5. Add the chopped bar or chips into the bowl that’s resting on top of the pot.
  6. Let the steam from the boiling water melt the chocolate as you slowly stir.
  7. After completely melting down, add the mixture of water and cocoa powder into the melted chocolate. Mix together well until it’s smooth.
  8. In a separate bowl, mix together the heavy whipping cream, vanilla extract, and sugar.
  9. Use a hand mixer to whip it up. Do not over mix, just whip for about 2 minutes.
  10. Once nice and thick, slowly fold in the chocolate mixture until completely mixed without deflating the whip.
  11. Cover the mousse and chill in the fridge until ready to serve/use.
